Fancy new lens

Got the new Canon 100mm f2.8L Macro lens and spent the week playing around with it (love it). Here’s a vid shot with the lens. I believe the f-stop was at 5.6. Take a look at more pics after the jump that show a bit of the range of the lens.

All pics are linked to higher res images that you can check out, though they are not full res, as they are massive files.

First some macro shots. All of the flower shots are handheld at 1/30 or slower, so the IS on the lens really works wonders:

Here’s a long exposure from a camping trip on Angel Island:

And here’s a portrait from the lens under fairly challenging lighting conditions (rather low light/high ISO, handheld):

And finally a fancy shrimp. Having trouble getting critical focus through the glass and water of the fishtank, so the focus is not perfect. These guys are only about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch long. This particular specimen is carrying eggs that I will spin into gold, as these little guys are not cheap:
